Court Stops Obaseki From PDP Primary

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has stopped Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki from participating in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary slated for Thursday, June 25.

One of PDP Governorship aspirants, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who filed the suit on Monday after vowing not to step down for Obaseki questioned the validity of Obaseki’s certificates, adding that Obaseki did not purchase the expression of interest form during the stipulated window.

Justice E.A Obile, who granted the order, allowed the defendant to serve the parties through substituted means in two national dailies and adjourned till June 24 for the hearing of the summon.

After the court pronouncement, the All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, while reading his acceptance speech shortly after being announced as the winner of the party primary called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to return to APC.
