Governor Abiodun Ease Lockdown, Prohibits Religious Gatherings

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has relaxed the eight-week-old COVID-19 lockdown to allow businesses to operate from Mondays to Fridays.

Abiodun speaking to newsmen in Abeokuta disclosed that the ease of the lockdown and the second face of relaxation will take effect from June 1st.

According to him, the ease will be allowed between 6.00 a.m. and 8.00 p.m, while the lockdown will be enforced on Saturdays and Sundays, with an interstate ban, wearing of face masks and limitation of all gatherings to a maximum number of 20 is still in place.

Governor Abiodun disclosed that his administration is in talks with religious leaders to design guidelines for the reopening of places of worship in the state.

He added that gyms, event centers, cinemas, arcades, bars, casinos, nightclubs, swimming pools, barber-shops, spas, beauty salons, and all public parks, will not be allowed to operate, while task force has been set up to conduct random checks on industries, restaurants, and other business enterprises to enforce compliance.
