Four Injured In Shiite’s Police Attack

Four members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, sustained gunshot injuries when they clash with the police during a protest against the continued detention of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim Elzakzaky and his wife in Abuja.

Several pedestrians and commuters in the area dispersed in different directions as police chased the protesters.

The group spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, confirming the incident, accused the police of provoking the violence by disrupting a peaceful protest, adding that the group has the constitutional right to assemble in the public.

The fresh clash is coming a week after the sect protested against the killing of a top Iranian general Gasem Soleimani by the united states airstrike in Baghdad, Iraq.
