FG Suspends Supply Of Fuel To Filling Stations Within 20km To Nigerian  Borders.

The federal government has suspended supply of diesel and petrol to filling stations within 20 kilometres to all Nigerian borders.

Customs Comptroller General, Hameed Ali, who issued the directive in a memo says the new order will be carried out under the ongoing operation swift response which is supervising the land border closure.

Former group managing director of the Nigerian national petroleum corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, had earlier raised alarm over the increasing number of filling stations in border towns saying they are funnels for fuel smuggling to neighbouring countries.

The NNPC GMD had said 16 states, having a total of 61 LGAs with border communities’ account for 2,201 registered fuel stations and a combined capacity of 144, thousand, seven hundred liters  of petrol.
