The Senate has proposed 14 years jail term, with a minimum of 5 years, without an option of fine for any lecturer convicted of sexual assault in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

The Bill, which was sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege and Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya, also recognizes other forms of sexual harassment to include, sending sexually explicit pictures or videos to students, making sexually complementary and uncomplimentary remarks about a student’s physique among others.
