Buhari Approves Reforms In Broadcasting Industry

As part of measures to bring sanity to the media industry, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a wide range of reforms in the broadcasting industry, including the licensing of online radio and television stations.

Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed who disclosed this on friday when he received members of the broadcasting organisations of Nigeria on a courtesy visit, informed that the president has approved a review of the broadcast code to ensure that webtvs and radio stations, including foreign broadcasters beaming signals into Nigeria are licensed.

The minister, who restated the commitment of the present administration to free media, noted that the move was not a plot to gag the press, adding that the media should serve as platforms for the unity and cohesion of the country.
